Property Improvement Grant/Loan
Availability
Available to commercial, industrial, institutional, or mixed-use properties in the Central Business District, District Shopping Area (“The Flats”), Business Areas, and Industrial Areas. This program is also available to hotels and motels within the CIP Area.
Purpose
The purpose of this program is to promote improvement of the physical condition and visual aesthetic of landscapes and streetscapes of private properties and encourage a community approach to improvements. The Town may benefit from improvements to the landscapes and streetscapes throughout the Town.
Funding Opportunity
The Town provides up to 50% of the cost of approved property improvement projects to a maximum of $8,000. The maximum municipal contribution would be a $4,000 interest-free loan and a $4,000 grant.
At the sole discretion of the Town, an increased maximum municipal contribution of $15,000 ($7,500 interest-free loan and $7,500 grant) may be provided if property improvements are coordinated among multiple properties and involve shared elements such as parking, entrances, driveways, and landscapes.
Eligibility
Eligible expenses include, but are not limited to, the following, as determined by the Town:
- Addition of landscaping features and green space such as plants, sod, trees, and vegetation;
- Addition of permanent landscaping elements such as fencing, benches, planters, and lighting;
- Addition of new parking or upgrades to existing parking lots;
- Improvements to rear building entrances and rear parking areas;
- Addition of walkways;
- Addition of patios and outdoor cafes (Central Business District and District Shopping Area (“The Flats”) only);
- Other similar improvements and repairs that may be necessary to improve a property
