Community Recognition

Celebrate the community members who are making a difference.

The Town of Bracebridge's Community Recognition Committee invites you to nominate members of the community for one or more Community Recognition Awards. The Town awards within two categories including the Community Service Awards and the Community Sport Awards. Details on each of these categories, and the specific awards within each, is outlined below. 

The deadline for award submissions has now closed. Details for 2025 awards will be available early next year. 

Awards Ceremony
The Awards Ceremony will take place in October in the Muskoka Leon's Auditorium at the Muskoka Lumber Community Centre.

  • Bracebridge Good Citizenship Award: This award recognizes and encourages the virtues of good citizenship by honouring community members who have made outstanding contributions to their communities. 
  • Bracebridge Outstanding Volunteer Achievement Award: This award recognizes outstanding volunteer contributions to their communities and Ontario.
  • Bracebridge Volunteer Service Award: Recognizes volunteers who contribute consecutive years of committed service to a group for which no payment has been received.
  • Bracebridge Senior Achievement Award: This award highlights the outstanding achievement made by individuals after they have reached the age of 65 years of age.
  • Bracebridge Senior of the Year: Recognizes outstanding community members who after the age of 65 have enriched the social, cultural or civic life of our community.
  • Bracebridge Young Volunteer Award: Recognizes youth between the ages of 15-24 yrs. Who have donated a large amount of time to a charity, not-for-profit organization or a single person.   
  • Bracebridge Community Heritage Award: Recognizes exceptional contributions to heritage conservation, environmental sustainability, biodiversity and cultural or natural heritage in our community.
  • Christopher Todd Lang Accessibility Award: Recognizes community members who have gone above and beyond in improving accessibility and awareness for people with disabilities in our community. 
  • Bracebridge Community Arts and Culture Award: Recognizes individuals or groups who have made a significant contribution or outstanding achievement in arts and culture. Artistic endeavors may include but are not limited to; visual, media, music, literary or performing arts.

Community Service Awards - PDF Nomination Form 

The Town of Bracebridge has recognized a long list of Volunteers, Athletes, Teams and Coaches over the years and continues to celebrate some of these community awards through the Bracebridge Sports Hall of Fame, located at the Bracebridge Memorial Arena and being relocated to the Muskoka Lumber Community Centre.  Award categories are highlighted below, all recipients must display good conduct on and off the playing surface; be a credit to the community; must display good character; and excel in the chosen sport(s).

  • Jim Quigley Memorial Award for the Bracebridge Athlete of the Year: Presented annually to an amateur athlete who has excelled in any sport(s), who is and has been a resident of the Town of Bracebridge or the immediate catchment area during the past twelve months and participates in a sport with its base in Bracebridge.
  • Norm Harkness Memorial Award for the Bracebridge Team of the Year:  Presented annually to the sports team (consisting of a minimum of 2 participants) that has excelled in any sport(s) the majority of which have been residents of the Town of Bracebridge or the immediate catchment area during the past twelve months, and participate in a sport with its base in Bracebridge.
  • Bracebridge Community Coach of the Year Award:  Presented annually to the coach who has excelled in any sport(s) who is or has been a resident of the Town of Bracebridge or the immediate catchment area during the past twelve months, and coaches a sports with its base in Bracebridge.
  • The Bracebridge Baseball Wall of Fame was initiated in 2011 and is celebrated through a plaque at Peake Fields at Verena Acres Baseball Park.
  • Bracebridge Baseball Wall of Fame:  Inductees include individuals who have made an outstanding contribution or achievement in the sport of baseball in Bracebridge. Inductees fall under the categories of Players, Coaches / Officials, Fans / Supporters or Builders / Sponsors.

Provincial Nominations

Local award recipients within the Community Service Award category will automatically have an application prepared and forwarded to the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship, Immigration and International Trade for consideration for a provincial level award. More details on the provincial program can be found on the Ministry of Citizenship, Immigration and International Trade's website at www.citizenship.gov.on.ca under the "nominate someone" tab. Once a nomination is received the Community Recognition Committee will place it in the most appropriate category.
