Classification: Contract Full-Time starting June 23, 2025 until August 29, 2025
Weekly Hours: 40 hours per week

Reporting to the Recreation Programmer or designate, the Camp Counsellor is responsible for delivering high quality camp programming that is stimulating and enjoyable for all camp participants. The Camp Counsellor also maintains a safe and welcoming environment for all participants and is responsible for delivering care, supervision and activities to camp participants.
Position Responsibilities:
- Deliver a high level of care and supervision to camp participants while delivering activities.
- Organize and lead quality activities while providing a safe, fun, and rewarding environment.
- Assist with various administrative tasks and promote facility events and programs.
- Communicate safety protocols, guidelines, and rules to patrons, ensuring they are enforced, including correcting inappropriate or unsafe behaviours.
- Respond to all incidents, accidents and emergency situations and complete required report forms.
- Serve as a positive role model and leader within your community.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, or in the process of obtaining.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C.
- Experience working with children and youth is considered an asset.
- Previous experience in a recreation operation is considered an asset.
- HIGH FIVE – Principles of Healthy Child Development and HIGH FIVE – Principles of Healthy Aging certification or willingness to obtain, an asset.
- Good working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and WHMIS 2015.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively in a team environment and to exhibit courtesy, tact, and diplomacy in dealing with the public, department officials and other members of staff. Ability to adhere to confidentiality requirements at all times.
- Good written and verbal communication, customer service, organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Ability to provide a current and acceptable vulnerable sector police record check.
- Physical demands require extended periods of, walking, standing, and climbing, including rough terrain, lifting up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to work schedule and shifts as stated. Work outside normal working hours may be required occasionally.
