Reporting to the Manager of Facilities or designate, the Facility Attendant is responsible for assisting in the maintenance of all department facilities, performing minor maintenance tasks, room and event setups, custodial services, and associated record keeping.

What You Will Do:

  • Maintain arena ice and recreation facility pools while also putting your general maintenance skills to work by performing general repairs and custodial work across our facilities.
  • Be part of a team who ensures the facility is prepared and properly maintained prior to events and 
    programs and provide a safe and welcoming environment to patrons.
  • Liaise with contractors, vendors, and internal staff.
  • Build your leadership and supervisory skills by providing exceptional customer service, securing facilities when working alone and providing guidance to student staff.
  • Your safety and that of our participants is our priority! Keep everyone safe by following the Town’s health and safety policies and relevant legislation such as the Occupational Health and Safety Act and WHMIS while ensuring HIGH FIVE Principles are incorporated in all program areas.

Qualifications:

We are looking for a team player who is enthusiastic, customer service focused and who has the 
following:

  • Ability to work varying hours and shifts, including days, evenings, midnights, and weekends.
  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma, or equivalent.
  • General knowledge of equipment, including snowblowers, hand tools, pumps, HVAC systems, and boilers; building maintenance; pool operations; refrigeration equipment maintenance; and ice making, is considered an asset.
  • Experience working in a recreational facility, working with chemicals, and cleaning products and performing general maintenance and janitorial services, is considered an asset.
  • Working at Heights, Certified Pool Operator Certificate, ORFA Certified Ice Technician Designation and/or a Refrigeration Operator Class B Certificate and HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development and HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Aging certification, is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize and rectify and/or report actual and potential safety hazards.
  • Good working knowledge of relevant legislation including the Fire Code, Ontario Building Code, Occupiers Liability Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and WHMIS 2015.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively in a team environment and to 
    exhibit courtesy, tact and diplomacy in dealing with the public, department officials and other members of staff. Ability to adhere to confidentiality requirements at all times.
  • Good written and verbal communication, customer service, organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications including Excel, Word, Outlook, and SharePoint.
  • Ability to provide a current and acceptable vulnerable sector police record check.
  • Possess the physical ability to perform the essential duties of the job.
  • A valid Class "G" Ontario Driver's License in good standing with a current acceptable Driver's Abstract and a reliable vehicle to use on corporate business.
