Wage Information: An hourly rate of pay of $25.66 (starting) - $26.68 (after 3 months) - $27.75 (after 12 months)

Reporting to the Manager of Facilities or designate, the Facility Operator 2 is responsible for the maintenance of recreation facilities including pools, arena, and fieldhouse, and ensuring the highest quality standards of building maintenance and cleanliness is achieved. Supervision of the facilities is required from time to time when working alone.
Position Responsibilities:
- Assist the facility Operators to complete maintenance or cleaning assignments, as required.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness of the building and maintenance of ice conditions.
- Perform pool water tests to ensure water chemistry is within Public Health standards.
- Complete set up and dismantle equipment for large events and sport preparation as required.
- Perform general custodial duties, cleaning of the facility and facilitate courteous and tactful assistance to the public.
- Respond to all incidents, accidents, and emergency situations and escalate issues as required.
- Operate a variety of machinery and equipment, including but not limited to the ice resurfacing machine, ice edger, automatic floor machines and power tools to ensure the integrity of the ice at all times.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent is required. Post-secondary education in recreation facilities maintenance is considered an asset.
- Minimum 1 year of progressive, related experience in an arena/pool operation with a good working knowledge of equipment, cleaning products and building maintenance in an arena/pool operation.
- Previous Custodial experience is considered an asset.
- CPR Level C and Standard First Aid, or willingness and ability to become certified.
- Good working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and WHMIS 2015
- Demonstrated experience in the safe handling and use of industrial cleaning products.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively in a team environment and to exhibit courtesy, tact, and diplomacy in dealing with the public, department officials and other members of staff. Ability to adhere to confidentiality requirements at all times.
- Good written and verbal communication, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook is considered an asset.
- Ability to work independently and flexible working hours, including midnight and weekend shifts.
- Ability to provide a current and acceptable vulnerable sector check.
- A valid Class “G” Ontario Driver’s license in good standing and a reliable vehicle to use on corporate business.
- Physical demands require extended periods of sitting, walking, standing, and climbing, including rough terrain, raking, shovelling, lifting up to 50 lbs, and handling equipment such as hand tools and small power tools.
