MEDIA RELEASE | Flood watch declared for Bracebridge
BRACEBRIDGE, ON (April 15, 2024) – The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) has declared a flood watch for Bracebridge-Minden-Parry Sound District, in effect until Friday, April 19. Runoff to local lakes and rivers has increased significantly with recent rainfall and it may be possible that lake water levels and river flows in certain areas could reach flood levels with more rainfall expected this week.
Watershed Conditions Statement – Flood Watch
A flood watch indicates the potential for flooding within specific watercourses and municipalities.
Lower-lying portions of known flood-prone areas may be impacted to varying degrees as lake and river water levels rise in response to recent precipitation. Residents and visitors should exercise caution while around waterbodies and maintain close supervision of children and pets. MNRF also advises extreme caution when using forest access roads for outdoor activities as they may become seasonally inundated with water, are prone to washouts and may become impassible due to localized flooding.
The Ministry is closely monitoring the weather and developing watershed conditions. Status updates can be found on the Ontario flood map.

Monitoring Road Conditions
The Town’s Public Works Department continues to monitor road conditions for seasonal flooding in low-lying areas. The end of the municipally maintained portion of Tingey Road remains closed but is passable. Public Works crews will be onsite today to make repairs.
