General Requirements for all positions:

  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C.
  • Experience working with children and demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience, an asset.
  • HIGH FIVE – Principles of Health Child Development, HIGH FIVE - Principles of Healthy Aging and 
    HIGH FIVE Quest 2, an asset.
  • Familiarity with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS, and relevant safety legislation, or willingness to learn.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with members of the public, coworkers and others in a friendly, courteous and effective manner while adhering to confidentiality requirements at all times.
  • Ability to provide an acceptable current criminal reference check, or if age 18+, a vulnerable sector police check.

Assistant Swim Instructor / Waterslide Attendant, Non-Union (Part Time) $16.55

Reporting to the Recreation Programmer, Aquatics and Fitness Program Supervisor or designate, the 
Assistant Water Safety Instructor / Waterslide Attendant is responsible for assisting with the execution and 
delivery of high quality, stimulating swim programs ensuring the safety and flow of participants utilizing the 
water slide. They also maintain a safe environment that is enjoyable for all users.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be a minimum of 15 years of age.
  • Current Lifesaving Society Swim for Life Instructor certification.
  • Current Bronze Cross certification.

Lifeguard, Non-Union (Part Time) $17.93 - $19.06

Reporting to the Recreation Programmer, Aquatics and Fitness Program Supervisor, or designate, the 
Lifeguard is responsible for the general supervision and safety of patrons in an aquatic facility by preventing 
and responding to emergencies. Lifeguards also provide advice on water safety, conduct rescues and 
provide a stimulating and enjoyable environment for all.

Additional Requirements:

  • Applicants must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
  • Current Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard Service (NLS) Pool certification.
  • Demonstrated experience in the aquatics field or lifeguard techniques.

Swim Instructor, Non-Union (Part Time) $19.41 - $20.60

Reporting to the Recreation Programmer, Aquatics and Fitness Program Supervisor or designate, the Swim 
Instructor is responsible for planning, organizing, implementing and providing a high quality swim program 
that is stimulating and enjoyable for all participants. The Swim Instructor creates and teaches appropriate 
lesson plans, providing instruction to a wide range of participants. They also supervise and maintain a safe 
and enjoyable environment for all users.

Additional Requirements:

  • Applicants must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
  • Current Bronze Cross or higher level certification.
  • Current Lifesaving Society Swim for Life or Lifesaving Instructor certification.
  • Demonstrated experience in the aquatics field or swim instruction techniques.

Aquatic Supervisor, Non-Union (Part Time) $23.46 - $24.72

Reporting to the Recreation Programmer, Aquatics and Fitness Program Supervisor, or designate, the 
Aquatic Supervisor leads a team of Lifeguards and Swim Instructors in facilitating a safe and welcoming 
aquatic environment. This role is responsible for overseeing the operation of aquatic, recreation programs 
and activities, assisting in training and development of staff and the coordination of special events. 

Additional Requirements:

  • Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Current Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard Service (NLS) Pool certification.
  • Current Lifesaving Society Lifesaving Swim for Life or Lifesaving Instructor certification.
  • Demonstrated experience in the aquatics field, lifeguard and instructing techniques and the supervision of staff.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Successful completion of Lifesaving Society Aquatic Supervisory Training.
  • Lifesaving Society Examiner Standards Clinic is an asset
