Reporting to the Wellness and Aquatics Coordinator or designate, the Wellness Coach is responsible for providing orientations to current and potential clients, assisting in the daily operations of the wellness centre, monitoring fitness passes and memberships, and interacting with staff, participants and the public to provide relevant information.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Conduct orientations and tours for current and potential clients and provide advice and assistance on exercise technique, program design and equipment use.
  • Collaborate with staff to implement strategies for member engagement and retention, while providing program information to staff, participants, and the public.
  • Assist administrative staff with monitoring and documenting attendance, fitness passes and memberships; promote membership sales.
  • Assist with and promote facility events and programs.
  • Serve as a positive role model and leader in your community.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma, or equivalent.
  • Standard First Aid and CPR-C or willingness to become certified.
  • Fitness certification from an accredited organization including CSEP-CPT/Can-Fit-Pro/CPTN/NCSA/ACSM, Water Art, or other accredited organization.
  • Experience in coaching and strength training principles, an asset.
  • Previous experience in a recreation operation is considered an asset.
  • HIGH FIVE - Principles of Healthy Child Development and HIGH FIVE - Principles of Healthy Aging certification or willingness to obtain, an asset.
  • Good working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and WHMIS 2015.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively in a team environment and to exhibit courtesy, tact, and diplomacy in dealing with the public, department officials and other members of staff. Ability to adhere to confidentiality requirements at all times.
  • Good written and verbal communication, administrative, customer service, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Ability to provide a current and acceptable Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check.
  • Physical demands require extended periods of standing, sitting, walking, demonstrating fitness activities, and lifting up to 30 kgs.
  • Ability to work schedule and shifts as stated. Work outside normal working hours is required occasionally.
