Freedom of Information and Privacy

• Any member of the public may request to view or obtain copies of general records and information held by the Town
• Individuals may request to view, copy or correct any personal information about themselves that may be held by the Town
• The Town must protect privacy

According to the Act, information may be withheld from release dependent on its limited and specific circumstances.

Many Town public records are available electronically through active dissemination in the Town's Document Centre, or by appointment during regular office hours. Some of those records include:

• Agendas and Minutes
• Financial Statements of The Corporation

Many Town records are also available through Routine Disclosure. Before filing your request, please contact the respective department to ensure that the information is accessible through this process.

Please note that while there is no fee to submit a request under Routine Disclosure, there will be a fee attached to the disclosure of records.

• Complete a Routine Disclosure Access Request
• Submit the form to the respective department/branch involved with your request, which can be done in person if the form is printed off, or by e-mail to one of the following:

Before filing your request, contact the Corporate Services Department to see if a request is necessary.

Follow this process to request information from the Town:

• Complete an FOI Request Form
• Submit the form and $5.00 fee. Please be advised the $5.00 CDN application fee is a non-refundable requirement upon submission of each Freedom of Information Request. Additional fees may be charged pursuant to Section 45 of the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

Note:

• FOI Requests will not be initiated without receipt of the $5 fee
• Except where an extension is necessary, all FOI Requests will be completed within 30 calendar days.
