Can the public attend and speak at Council and Committee meetings?
Council welcomes delegations and presentations to assist the municipality in making good decisions on behalf of the Community.
Any individual or group wishing to discuss their opposition to a motion made at the previous General Committee or Planning and Development Committee may do so at Council.
Delegations are NOT permitted at General Committee or Planning and Development Committee.

Does the Town Council or its Committees meet in closed session?
Council may only move into closed session (confidential) to discuss issues which fall under section 239 of the Municipal Act, 2001. Some of these issues relate to labour relations, human resources, legal opinions, land transactions, etc. The public is not permitted to remain in the room during closed session.
Is audio visual equipment available in the Council Chambers?
Yes, contact the Deputy Clerk to learn about the types of equipment available and to verify the acceptable presentation formats.
How do I address the Mayor or Chair of a Committee?
There are some basic protocols to be followed when speaking at Council or Committee. Review our Guide to Public Input and Communicating with Town Council for details. Presenters always address Council or Committee through the Chair.

Webcasts are generally posted within three days after a meeting.

How do I apply to join a Committee?
Vacancies on Boards and Committees are advertised by the Corporate Services Department. Advertisements appear on the Town Page in the Bracebridge Examiner, in the Document Center, on our website, and are posted on the Town's Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Once the Committee decides on an issue, is the decision final, or does the matter have to go to Council for approval?
The Advisory Committees report to a Standing Committee and each Standing Committee makes recommendations to Council for consideration. Council has final approval.
